Been having some really great days mixing with David Williams down at Melrose Mastering. “For her” is a song I wrote for my daughter Liv a few months before she was born and I’m really happy with how the mix has progressed. The best part is that it’s Livs’ favorite song… “again Daddy” when she hears it through in the car. The order is finally starting to gel and I’m planning to have it ready for release this year. Stay tuned for release details.
Listen to Put ‘Em on a Boat, featured on Neil Young’s Living with War Site. If you head over there, be sure to click on the song to vote on it. It’s now cracked the top ten, #7 out of 3,150 songs!

I’m starting up SongShare with this piano version of Spill. You’re invited to use it to create a youtube video, or you can download it and bring it into your sound editor to add a track — such as voice, drums, guitar, any noise.
So come on over to the SongShare page, and give it a try. This is for fun, so please don’t worry about people being judgemental. I really envision this as a safe creative outlet for people where people can collaborate.
The indomitable Charlotte Rose is in the world and Daddy has been busy. Look at how cute this little one is, just want to squeeze her. I’ll be filming a show at the Pig n’ Whistle in Hollywood on April 10th. Come down and sing along for posterity.
Down vibe, pre Oscar Hollywood Blvd ghost town. Love a gig like this. Played all new songs, great response, hushed room. Wish you were there. Thinking about doing some live concert footage from there in April. I’m taking requests. What do you think?
Welcome to the new site! This is now the main place I’ll be — so if you want the latest of everything, come here — write on the wall to start. Listen to music of course, view videos, find out where I’ll be playing, and more. I’m very excited to offer my catalog in a more expanded way. You’ll find a free Music Player, and five albums available now for download in the Music Store with a few more to be added in the coming months. I’ll be adding at least one new song each month to the ever expanding library. It is really great to have a home for my songs after all this time spent writing and recording them. Enjoy.
I am really excited about plans for this site to become a hub of connection for fans of my music and eventually as a collaborative spot to create. I’m looking forward to getting SongShare up and running in the next few months as a place to witness and contribute to new songs in progress, people adding parts to existing songs, working together in a spirit of collaboration and community support. I encourage you to share your songs, poems and stories with the community.
I’d also like to give special thanks to Andree Duggan for creating this site with me. Andree is an amazing woman who is an incredible artist/channeler who I encourage you to get to know. She will be helping me expand the site and I am really grateful for her support and guidance. Also thanks to my lovely wife Christy and daughter Liv for their patience and support while I’ve been busy lifting this dream of mine to it’s feet.
“Well, I usually like to give a special mention to one performer weekly who is tried and true at our humble Monday Night Show, but this week I can not ignore the performance of one very amazing singer/songwriter. Mr. Andrew Hyra, all the way from the left coast of California, guided in our direction by our very own and very faithful Tony Lovell was absolutely stunning. Backing up his songs with solid guitar chops and a patient delivery, Andrew uses the range of his voice that would be considered high tenor to capture the listener in each passing lyric. His voice, powerful enough to cut through the crowd with out the assistance of the mic from time to time, was an undeniable weapon against anyone who was not paying attention. At the beginning of his songs the room was a little chatty. By the end of the songs all you heard was Andrew’s last chord. Nice work sir! Thank you Andrew Hyra for making the Lizard Lounge Open Mic Challenge a stop on your trip!” Lizard Lounge Open Mic Newsletter!
I really enjoyed Open Mic Challenge at the Lizard Lounge in Boston recently. Tony Lovell was filming a documentary on open mics, and shot the video. I guess folks enjoyed the performance.
Here’s Hawaii Bound with Ashley Wilson on harmonies performed in late December at the Red Light Cafe in Atlanta. Great night and audience. Video props to Ginny Hawkins.
So I played the Pig ‘N Whistle last night in Hollywood. A great venue for my music. Really cool listening room. I played really well. The guys who’s been working on my stuff in the studio came up and played and just improvised on all of the songs and I had his girlfriend up to sing harmonies. It was fun. I have to get a mailing list together as well to get to every person who listens. Lots to do in advance of Curios release. Next stop, Atlanta.
